I Am But a Leaf
I am but a leaf, big or small,
young or old, falling from a tree,
quite high, a distance from me;
Blowing in the wind, being tossed
and turned, seeking to be free.
I pray that I can stay true to my color,
of green, that’s wearing through nature;
I hope that this transformation will not
become an indecisive reformation.
My prayer is that the rain and storms won’t
come, and the winds, won’t persistently blow;
but most importantly, I pray, that when you
walk, you will look beyond the core, and
recognize, my beauty, and feel the depths of
my pain, so that when you walk, you footsteps
will not diminish me, again, and again…..
